TREATMENT PROGRAM

Soldier On has developed a substance abuse and life skills program that helps participants  change the end of their story. Veterans begin to live a life of recovery that spans their stay at Soldier On through the rest of their lives. Our comprehensive program consists of three phases, each phase is crucial to success of our veterans.

As veterans arrive at Soldier On they are introduced to a mentor. A mentor is a veteran who has participated in all of our recovery and life skills programming and is eager to share their experience as well as strength and hope. The basis of this mentoring program is to offer a support system that encourages strong peer to peer relationships.

 Phase 1:
The program begins with an initial assessment that allows the veteran and the clinical staff to choose the correct programming that is appropriate for the individuals needs. The programs offer an active educational track with structured groups like pharmacology, stages of change and relapse prevention. The veterans are also offered involvement in a series of motivational and inspirational teachings such as coping skills, recovery work or spirituality. The programming is under a collaborative agreement on when and how the programming will occur.

 Phase 2:
This phase begins with an attitude of gratitude, where the rallying cry is, “let’s keep this going!” At this level veterans begin to select groups that will continue to benefit their forward progress. Peer support is a constant theme throughout this phase with several weekly meetings encouraging volunteerism. At this level, veterans are given the option to begin work on their financial and social issues, and are engaged to look at this much neglected aspect of recovery.

Phase 1 and 2 are dependent on individual circumstance while remaining active in the mentoring program.

 Phase 3:
The veterans remain in phase 3 for the duration of their stay. The veterans attend weekly meetings and move from attending to facilitating. At the weekly meetings it is determined who is eligible to facilitate peer to peer support groups, as well as from their perspective who can assist in running a Phase 1 alcohol and substance abuse group. Veterans in phase 3 have the responsibility of running weekend support groups and assisting new veterans upon their arrival to Soldier On.

Each week veterans meet with the clinical support team and evaluate their progress in moving to the next level.
