Soldier On built 44 permanent ownership units on the campus of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Northampton, MA. Soldier On partnered with the Department of Veterans Affairs on this project and utilized financing through the VA’s VAi2 Innovation Initiative. The project features highly effective modular construction and are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certified. A 16-unit women’s facility was completed in December, 2015 and features a wellness program for female veterans. The 44 unit cooperative is slated for occupancy in August 2016.
Soldier On is in the development phase of constructing 51 permanent housing units for homeless veterans in the former Western Massachusetts Regional Police Academy in Agawam, MA. The property was transferred to Soldier On through state legislation and the project will be financed through state funding and includes low income housing tax credits.
O’Connell Construction developed the former Chapin School in Chicopee, MA into veterans housing to be run by Soldier On. Soldier On is in the pre-development phase for a 220 unit permanent housing development on the site of the former Ann Lee Nursing Home adjacent to the Albany International Airport. This project includes both renovation and new construction, like all Soldier On cooperatives, will serve as beautiful limited-equity housing with services on-site for formerly homeless veterans.
Tinton Falls, NJ
Soldier On is preparing a site design for 50-100 units of permanent housing for homeless veterans on 12.59 acres in Tinton Fall, NJ. The lease to the land was signed in August 2016.
