Soldier On is building 44 cooperative and 16 transitional units, including a transitional women’s center, on the campus of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Northampton, MA. Soldier On partnered with the Department of Veterans affairs on this project and utilized financing through the VA’s VAi2 Innovation Initiative. The project features highly effective modular construction and are Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certified. The women’s facility was completed in December, 2015 and the 44 unit cooperative is slated for a Spring, 2016 completion.
Soldier On is in the development phase of constructing 54 permanent housing units for homeless veterans in a former police academy in Agawam, MA. The property was transferred to Soldier On through state legislation and the project will be financed through state funding and includes low income housing tax credits.
Soldier On is in the pre-development phase for a 150 unit permanent housing development on the site of a former nursing home adjacent to the Albany Airport. This project includes both renovation and new construction and, like all Soldier On cooperatives, will serve as beautiful limited-equity housing with services on-site for formerly homeless veterans.
O’Connell Construction is developing the former Chapin School in Chicopee, MA into veterans housing to be run by Soldier On. We plan on housing 43 formerly homeless veterans in this permanent housing community when the project is complete.
Soldier On has prepared a site design for 52 units of permanent housing for homeless veterans. Currently, this project in the funding phase and Soldier On will utilizing state financing to complete this community.
