About
Veteran Name: Ashley Mays
Veteran Branch of Service: Army National Guard
Ashley, an Army National Guard veteran, worked with Soldier on Case Manager, Josh Ziccarelli, to improve her situation and accomplish her goals.
-
When I reached out to Soldier On, I had recently been accepted into the MBA program at the University of Rochester Simon Business School. As I was preparing to relocate from Lubbock, Texas, to Rochester, New York, I faced challenges in securing affordable housing due to my status as a disabled veteran with three dependents. This situation prompted my outreach for assistance.
-
Since working with Soldier On, my situation has improved significantly over the past two years. With their support, I was able to complete my MBA without the stress of housing concerns for my family. Additionally, I secured a position with a salary 2.5 times higher than my previous role. This reduction in stress has allowed me to prioritize my health, leading to a more stable mindset and enabling me to be the best mother possible for my children.
-
In the future, I aim to purchase a home for my family, ideally within the next year. This goal is a significant step toward establishing stability and creating a nurturing environment for my children. Long-term, I aspire to continue building on my success, both professionally and personally. I want to cultivate a career that not only brings me fulfillment but also allows me to motivate and empower others. I believe in the importance of sharing the message that success is attainable for everyone, though sometimes we all need a helping hand to reach our goals. By mentoring others and advocating for support systems, I hope to contribute to a community where individuals feel encouraged to pursue their aspirations.
