I was homeless and sheltering at the VOA. I completed a rehabilitation program at an organization called New Horizons and had been out of that program for about 7 months.

I now have stability in my life. I have a roof over my head, a place to call home, and a place to keep all of my belongings. I’m an avid reader and have a bookshelf where I display my growing collection of books. I now have a beautiful dog named Vanya and she’s truly my companion and emotional support animal.

I am working to complete a certification as a peer support counselor and would like to work in peer support for the VA. I am also considering running for office in local politics.

I have been sober for 14 ½ months, am active in AA and hope to inspire and encourage others with my story. I am also looking forward to volunteering as a garden coordinator for the garden plots on site here.
