I was in the homeless VA program / Altamont house. Things were bleak – I had no income and I was homeless. I felt hopeless and not sure where to turn without VA survey connection.

Soldier On saved my life. I’ve said that every day since getting to Monarch Commons. Soldier On gave me an opportunity to come in and rest in my own apartment. I was then able to focus on other things. I was able to file and get service connected – and eventually appealed to get 100%. I didn’t have to worry about paying rent, food or transportation as Soldier On was able to provide or assist with all of this. My credit score went from 475 to 714 and I was able to purchase a home in Myrtle Beach SC only two years after moving in with Soldier On. Soldier On gave me a second chance. It is bittersweet leaving Monarch Commons and the Soldier On program, but I’m starting a new journey because of the second chance Soldier On provided

I would like to be a peer specialist for veterans working specifically with veterans who have addiction and mental health concerns. I would like to pursue VA accreditation to assist veterans with filing service claims
