Eddie, a U.S. Army veteran, first engaged with Soldier On in 2020. After nine months, it was determined that he could no longer manage daily living activities independently. With the support of Soldier On, Eddie relocated to Side-by-Side Assisted Living in Pittsfield, MA. Over the next three years, a Soldier On liaison assisted him with a series of medical appointments to address his ongoing lethargy and difficulties with independent functioning. He was initially diagnosed with dementia. In 2025, following an assessment by a psychologist, it was found that while he may have had mild dementia, he was also over-medicated with psychotropic medications. Following several months of medication adjustment, Eddie exhibited significant improvement. He now rides a bike locally, attends church, and participates in community activities. This progress could only have occurred with the ongoing support of Soldier On.
