Ron, a U.S. Navy veteran, established his permanent residence at the Gordon H. Mansfield Veterans Community in 2018. In 2025, he became the first Soldier On resident to participate in Assistive Technology (AT) Services offered by UCP of Western Massachusetts, made possible through community donations to Soldier On. AT delivers innovative solutions to reduce barriers and enhance abilities via individualized assessments. Ron has experienced improved relaxation with the help of his assistive technology comfort cat, which has contributed positively to his sense of security and mental well-being. The integration of AT has played an important role in supporting Ron’s continued housing stability within a comfortable environment.
